General Information

Science Expo 2012 - Convene and Connect - took place on 25 February 2012 at the Ontario Science Centre. With an attendance of over 100 delagates, various networking activities, and engaging exhibitors from Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) opportunities from across Ontario contributed to an amazing day. Keynote speakers Nicholas Schiefer - a MILSET winner and TEDxToronto speaker, and Dr. Brad Bass - a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate enlightened our conference with their own experiences and lessons from their path to success in STEM. From bridge-building, to fingerprinting, to explosions and awards, the day was filled with exploration that will be in the minds of our delegates for much time to come.

Keynote Speakers

Nicholas Schiefer's research on search algorithms won a gold medal at the Canada Wide Science Fair, and he subsequently showed his work at the MILSET International Science Fair. Nicholas was also a TEDxToronto 2011 speaker. He is currently attending high school in Richmond Hill.

Dr. Brad Bass is an adjunct professor in the University of Toronto’s Centre for Environment and a 2007 Co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize as member of IPCC-TGICA. His current research interests include modelling complexity, green infrastructure design and analysis, visualization of the urban heat island, and community energy systems.
